- Napoleon III, 1852 to 1870
- Materials
- Horsehair, hand-stitched burlap edges, cotton, figured cover fabric
This settee was made during the Second Empire in the Louis XV style, with a carved show-wood frame and serpentine lines. A French shipping label from Ivry-sur-Seine was still attached when the old upholstery came off.
Kim built the upholstery back up by hand: tied springs, burlap, stitched edges that hold the shape of the seat and back, horsehair, and cotton under a figured red cover.
