Canadian Office Chair
An antique office chair whose owner drove it from Ontario to Nebraska after finding Kim on YouTube, restored in tow, cotton and Austrian leather.
- Era
- Antique
- Came from
- Ontario, Canada
- Materials
- Tied springs, jute, recycled tow fiber, cotton, denim, Austrian leather, nail trim
After failing to find anyone in Canada who could restore her chair properly, the owner found Kim's YouTube channel and made the road trip from Ontario to his shop in Nebraska, staying a few days while the work was done.
All of the original upholstery came off and the exposed wood was touched up. The springs were scuffed clean of dirt and rust, clear-coated and tied eight ways, then covered with heavy jute and a 1-inch edge roll. An inch and a half of recycled tow fiber, more than 100 years old, went on next, then cotton batting pulled into shape with denim, and finally leather imported from Austria with nail trim.
